This is a fun book!! I am planning on moving to Japan soon, and this is a great book to get for a new perspective. It shows Japan from the view of an American teenage girl, which is really nice, because most books are written from the pov of someone older (and someone less focused on the fun part of Japan, the culture shock for a teen girl). It's not a guidebook, but it is a great read.

This was one of Christmas surprise gifts for my teen daughter and a big success! She loved it. She said this book was very good and funny and she related to the main character because she is also half Japanese. There are a lot of information about Tokyo and Kyoto including culture, fashion and etc. We would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in Japan, who is planning to visit there, teens who love Harajuku or everyone!!

I really enjoyed this graphic memoir! It is chock full of personality, humorous anecdotes and wit. Whether you've been to Tokyo or not, you will be transported there with Christine's artwork. From a detailed deconstruction of a bowl of ramen to an apt commentary on Japanese fashion, I think she captures not only the city’s culture and charm, but what it's like to be a teen today. Christine's style is thoughtful, personal, and whimsical. I won't give away where her adventures take her, you just need to read it and go on the journey to Japan with her yourself! What an accomplishment for a first time author. I can't wait to see what she does next!

Not only is this a well-written charming diary/travelogue, but a must read for first time trips to Tokyo. Diary of a Tokyo Teen is a joyful, insightful discovery adventure and perfect for holiday giving, I am sending copies to the Wilson School library in St. Louis, educator friends, and my granddaughter who is a freshman in college.

My non-reader was struggling with the selections on the summer reading list and hated the first book read. I suggested this one as the second because it sounded interesting and looked easier to read than a novel. The kiddo loved it! It sparked discussions of all sorts and was a big hit.

Really awesome book! I bought this for my nature loving 6 yr old. He loves to read it together-although some of it is definitely for older kids so we skip over those parts. My husband-not a book lover by any means-even picked it up and looked through it. The whole time he kept saying he wished he had books like this one when he was a kid:)

I bought this book for my 10 year old nephew and my 8 year old son saw it and had to have it also. They both loved it. It's a very nice looking hardcover book with nice illustrations. A year later and my son still picks it up occasionally and reads through it. He gave it 5 stars, so I do too.

I wasnt expecting this to be a hard cover book. I missed that in the description, but was pleasantly surprised upon delivery. My 9 yo son just cant put this book down. He spent the entire day trying to tell me how he would wrestle an alligator, escape from quicksand, or protect himself from a grizzly attack. This book is WAY cool!!!

We used this as part of a homeschool geography program, but my kids (especially my 11-yr old) keep reaching for it for non-school reading. Lots of different, short topics, so it can be picked up and enjoyed over and over, with big breaks in between.

The book can educate, entertain and excite kids and adults alike. Many interesting facts and topics, spiced with history and good illustrations, teaching useful skills in the very attractive way.

The information contained in How to be a World Explorer is excellent, and my grandson is enjoying it very much.

Wonderful for "young" kids ...full of great stories...facts.

I love this book; she has soups for everyone in it. She also put the soup lover’s pantry which gives you the staples to have on hand. Then she goes into the healthy or allergy swaps which I truly like because I have to watch my sodium and fat intake. There are tips on storage and thawing of the soups. There is hot and cold soups, not to mention seasonal and “fancy” soups, chowders. I would recommend this cook book to anyone, who loves soups or who wants to learn how to make soups and much more. Perhaps it’s due to the particularly cold week I’d had when this book arrived, but I love this addition to my library of recipe books! Not only is the book full of information, such as the “dirty dozen” section revealing fruits and vegetables that are best bought organic, but it contains many more soup recipes than I was aware existed. I especially enjoy the vegetarian soup recipes because it’s really hard to go anywhere and find a good variety of vegetarian soups. Even some of the recipes that call for meat offer vegetarian substitutions. While I’m not too swayed by the little testimonials accompanying each recipe, they do add a little homey/personal touch. I’d recommend this one!

Lots of colored photos which I love.The book gives alot of details as far as food labels, Paleo, Gluten free, Vegan etc, details what that involves. Great tips on Storage and how to choose your seasonal ingredients for seasonal soups.Great recipes from scratch, the recipes label each for the different groups as I mentioned above. So for Instance the Parmesan broth is a gluten free, vegetarian and fix it and forget it meal.All recipes also include nutritional information.So many yummy soups and stews. There's a ton of variety in the recipes. There's sandwiches, Panini's and Salads.Very impressed by the variety of recipes listed. They look very easy to follow. This book introduces you to a variety of styles of soups as well as offering gluten-free options so everyone can enjoy a tasty soup that warms you from the inside out! I found that this soup cookbook was easy to follow, included beautiful photos that gave me a good idea of what I was striving for and featured a wide-variety of flavors. With our temperatures being well below zero right now, my family loves coming home to have a homecooked soup on the table for dinner with a nice crusty bread to warm us all up. The instructions are so simple to follow but the flavors are developed and complex. I am enjoying each one I have tried so far and look forward to cooking my way through this soup cookbook.

I enjoy preparing soups and Soup & Comfort cookbook is packed with easy to follow mouth-watering recipes. Some of the recipes included are for chilled soups, meaty soups, stews, chili, chowders, and also how to make your own stocks, broths etc. There is also a chapter on salads, sandwiches and soup topping to pair with you delicious home made soup. I really like the helpful cooking and ingredient tips throughout the cookbook. Slow cooker instructions are included for some recipes. There are friendly variations of the recipes for vegan, vegetarian and also dietary restriction conscious. Some of the great soups I have prepared are; Moroccan Chicken Stew and Minestrone. I have never had a chilled soup and look forward to making Strawberry Gazpacho and many other recipes. This is sure to become a favorite cookbook for anyone that enjoys comfort foods.

This is probably the best cook book I own. I'm such a fan of soup and always looking for new ones to try out. I'm a big fan of simplicity, flavor and variety and this book definitely has all of the above! I love how there's soups for all seasons and not just heavy ones for those cooler nights and can't wait to try cucumber melon one this summer. The beef stout and herb dumplings is to die for and crowd favorite. I've made it twice already and it's definitely one I'll be making frequently. I love the tips on how to salvage a soup if your hands get too heavy on different ingredients and also love the steps on how to make your own broth. Overall this was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone.I received this book for free in exchange of an honest review.

There's nothing better to comfort the soul than soups. My family eats a lot of soups during the colder months and sometimes we get sick of the same recipes. I love that this book not only has soups we are use to, but new ones that we've never even heard of. I never thought to try cold soups as usually when you think of a soup, you think of something hot and hearty. However, they have cold soups that are great for spring and summer! There are even recipes for stews and chilis as well as things that pair well with soups like salads and toppings. The variety of recipes in this book is pretty impressive and will help us mix up meal routine.Received at no cost or discounted in order to facilitate a review. All thoughts are strictly my own. This cookbook is a perfect addition to any soup lover's kitchen. Each recipe has nutrition information including calories and carbs per serving, and as a little reading bonus also a cute anecdote. The photos are excellent, and the organization of soups by characteristics such as "clear", "seafood", and "vegetarian" make finding the right dish easy. The recipes are simple and easy to follow, but sophisticated. I received a copy of this book for free to review but the opinion is my own.
