The rather horrid story of a very frugal family eager to enjoy a formal garden with no admission price. Moral to the story: most likely, beware of anything "free" for it may end up costing you quite dearly. Another delightfully dreadful story by the master, Edward Gorey.
This book is small, easily read in just a few minutes including time spent looking at the distinctive Gorey drawings. It is as macabre and whimsical as you might expect from the author, who continually manages to cleave together such disparate notions to make the most amusing horror stories ever written.
Beautifully illustrated. A macabre and charming story.

I love Edward Gorey. I like the book, it's a bit dark but funny. It's a small size book, with just a few pages.
Any of Gorey's work that involves children causes a shiver of anticipatory fright. Recommended to those who are especially fond of his plights of children
