3/4 of the way through reading Book 1, I was ready to give this book three stars and not purchase Book 2. I wasn't ready for what seemed to be an entire book about heterosexual guys being transformed into gay guys. POSSIBLE SPOILERS: Didn't matter to me that their captors were purple; the food would allow the humans to speak with the aliens; that the good guys were captured (but never forced). But as I neared the end of the book, I realized that this book was basically scene and character setting for Book 2. And when I did purchase Book 2 (which I'm 1/3 through now), I realized just how creative this author truly is. This is my first book of hers and WOW! You have to read Book 1 to get Book 2. Yes, Book 1 does leave you wanting more about the alien universe, who these people are, what are the other beings/animals that the Krie keep insisting the humans wouldn't survive, etc. Well, read Book 2. It's lengthy and I don't know if there's a Book 3 planned (hoping with the length of Book 2 it's the end of this series) but from where I am right now, I'd purchase Book 3. So don't let the encounters in Book 1 keep you from buying Book 2: it's fabulous!
My Review:This is a sci fi book that takes place sometime in the future. The book begins one year before the bulk of the story, which is intriguing simply because those characters in the initial scenes are never in this installment again. This is the first book setting up as a serial, but I have no idea how many episodes are planned and the fact that this one came out over a year ago is worrying...because the story most definitely is not complete.Overall the book was intriguing. The crew of this science based space ship crash land on a foreign planet where they are immediately taken captive by the native species...all males, who are extremely sexual. Only one of the six crew starts off as gay. The book is fairly hot and definitely interesting, although it is really more about the sex and the foreign species more than the story. If I had to recommend something based on this book, I would say wait until book #2 is out before reading this one, because the story is most definitely not finished at the end of this one and it left me more than a little unsatisfied. Although, I will definitely be reading it if a second installment comes up for sale. I'm intrigued by how all this plays out...with both the original crew and the secondary crew that were in the first chapter that arrived a year later.
What do you do when your favorite M/M erotica author writes a paranormal story that may be a little bit outside your comfort zone? Well, if that author is Kora Knight, you put on your biggest stretch pants, fire up your kindle, and get ready to expand that comfort zone, baby!Kora Knight knows how to deliver an erotic story (*cough* *cough* Upending Tad Series) and she does it spectacularly with Krie Captivity. I admit Planet Nira kinda scares me. Not because of the purple, seven foot tall, heavily muscled, really well-endowed, horned men, no…they actually sound pretty damn hot. It’s the Krie’s ability to telepathically translate thoughts that frighten me. I mean, come on, do I really want a smokin’ hot, exotic male who’s ready to satisfy my voracious carnal appetite reading my every thought about him? Oh wait, *sly smile* yeah…yeah, I do!And as much as Krie Captivity satisfied my kinky side (if in doubt, see above), the story of Alec and his men’s captivity completely drew me in. I’m nervous but excited for them. I gotta know what happens next. Come on, Kora Knight, I need book 2 - STAT!Oh, and about that comfort zone thing? Yeah…well let’s just say my zone has now been thoroughly stimulated, enjoyably stretched, and raring for round two.
A very hot, erotic read obviously. I'm very picky about my sic-fi or paranormal reads and this one seemed fresh and interesting in some ways. There were definitely some hot scenes and the cliffhanger definitely kills a lot of people, but nonetheless, I'm fine with the cliffhanger.I prefer that the protagonists in love stories have set partner(s)-- nothing that really changes. If there's a mélange à trois or just one partner, I'm totally cool with it. Kora ended up writing a more mysterious plot where I'm not sure who is going to end up with who which is something I'm not too fond of. And I couldn't really tell which couple's book this is. But I loved, loved Kora's Upending Tad series which you should definitely read if you haven't.Overall, I would recommend this book for the hot sex. Just be forewarned that this story is a serial.Edit: After rereading this over a year later, this book is more like a set-up to introduce characters and a bit of the new planet, Nira. Lots of sex, and I wished there was more information about Noah and Gesh.
