BEFORE YOU BUY THIS BOOK READ THE PREFACE AND PREMISE THAT IS AVAILABLE FOR FREE! The cover of this book is very misleading; it makes the book look like a succinct, well-written work that exposes the true origins of the old and new testament. Instead it is a diluted, rambling book where the author attempts to support his ancient, metaphysical philosophies. If you read the preface and premise available in the "LOOK INSIDE" feature, you will have a good idea of how the rest of this terrible book is written. FYI: I returned this book claiming misleading website information.
I've been studying the origins of the Jewish myths and fables, and also the origins of the Christian myths and fables, for years. Essentially, they all started as "campfire" fables at the oases along the Silk Road: the China-to-India route joined to the Western route by the conquests of Alexander the Great in the 320'sBC. This Western route along the Silk Road to China was so extensively used by the Romans, that Rome had to eventually outlaw the importation of silk from China, because so much silver was leaving Rome to trade for silk.Therefore, I already knew about the Egyptian origins, about the Indian origins, and about those origins from Zoroaster. However, Mr. Graham has extensively researched dozens of other original resources for both the Old Testament and for the New Testament.Anyone interested in knowing where the mythologies and fables of the Bible actually came from should read this book. Grade A+.
The book starts off with a preface and premise that demonstrate the author's penchant for pseudoscientific nonsense being passed off as "Ancient Wisdom" that had been poorly copied, then deliberately destroyed by supporters of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. He demonstrates he doesn't understand the first thing about science or what has been discovered by using that tool, over the last five centuries. He refers to "atomic energy" as "the true nature of matter", and then goes on to tell the reader that we need to learn how to "handle cosmic energy". Those nuggets of nonsense were within the first few pages of the preface.The premise, which follows, goes on to tell the reader that all worlds are intelligently designed, apparently through a world-sized version of genes he calls, "monads". Even though this idea contradicts everything we understand about solar system and planetary formation, he blithely continues on with one laughable claim after another, totally undermining his credibility before the reader even gets to the first chapter.How this sells so well is beyond me. I guess some people are intrigued by the touted comparisons of other cultures' myths with those in the Bible, but trying to wade through all of the author's incredibly bad thinking to get to those parts is more than I can bring myself to do. The book is further crippled by a lack of a bibliography, no footnotes that I can find, and no actual scientific evidence to back up the incredible claims made by the author.If you are a theist, just laugh at this author's self-defeating appeals to antiquity and his horrible attempts to sound profound while he excoriates the Abrahamic religions. If you are an atheist, especially one who places a high value on skepticism and the scientific method, you will probably get a few chuckles while you identify the many logical fallacies committed by the author before the preface and premise are complete.Otherwise, please avoid this book, because it's not worth your time.
Altho I found some of the author's ideas a bit far fetched - 98% of what he wrote in right on target. Answered a lot of questions I have wondered about over the years. Open minded people will like this book, conservative and/or fundamentalist religious people will hate it. I loved it.
The most comprehensive expose on the Bible and the mythologies behind the biblical stories. Also enlightens the reader on the processes of Involution and Evolution.
Insightful and it draws in all the cultural myths and cosmology that contribute to the composition of the structure and stories of the Bible.
